The importance of professional development can't be overemphasized, especially in a field as vital as education. Only by continually arming yourself with the latest research, techniques and knowledge in the profession can you hope to stay effective in your career.
ASCA offers a wealth of professional development opportunities, from its annual conference to its Advocacy and Public Policy Institute, from regional meetings to one-day workshops. These training events give you, the practicing school counselor, the chance to network with your peers, learn more about your chosen profession and, in many cases, earn CEUs as well.
Over the course of the next year, ASCA has ambitous plans to expand its training opportunities tenfold, giving you even more of what you need to stay current and serve all students' needs.
Get Your Training from an Authorized Provider
ASCA is an authorized provider of the IACET Continuing Education Unit (CEU). The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET, 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22101) is a nonprofit organization. One IACET CEU is equal to 10 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience offered by an organization that has met strict criteria and guidelines (detailed at www.iacet.org).
ASCA is the only international counseling organization to offer IACET CEUs for its professional development opportunities. The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is in the public domain. Almost any organization can claim to offer CEUs. IACET Authorized Providers, however, undergo a comprehensive authorization process that differentiates their educational offerings from that of their un-authorized competitors. Only IACET Authorized Providers can offer the IACET CEU, the hallmark of quality in continuing education and training.
