Using Data to Impact Student Achievement

Workshop Information

This training targets school teams, including school counselors, teachers and administrators, interested in learning how to increase school counseling programs’ impact on student achievement. Content includes the shifting role of the school counselor and in-depth training on gathering data and demonstrating accountability.  Participants develop skills to build and measure action plans, which helps them implement a program to address the achievement gap. 

Learning Objectives

 

  • Walk away with a clear definition of a school counseling and the shift in role as set forth by ASCA, the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and the Education Trust.
  • Learn about the components of the ASCA National Model
  • Understand how to integrate the counseling program into the school's mission and to have a positive on all students and measure effectiveness
  • Discover how to gather, disaggregate and assess data to create effective action plans and results reports.
  • Prioritize goals to address achievement gaps and have an impact on student learning through the counseling program.
