President’s Letter: Win the Day

By Denise Latour | January 2019

At the high school level, second semester is a roller coaster ride. So much to do in so little time. There are senior audits, scheduling, testing, more testing, and graduation. If you are like me, this time of year can be stressful. So I am taking a page from Drew Brees’s playbook. He said, “When you wake up, think about winning the day. Don’t worry about a week or month from now – just think about one day at a time. If you are worried about the mountain in the distance, you might trip over the molehill right in front of you. Win the day!”

With all of the demands on school counselors, I think we sometimes forget to win the day. You’ve got this. And remember, we have only 13 Mondays until summer!
