For 2018-19, we are pleased to have the following members of the Legislative Advisory Council:

Co-Chairs: Dr. Shari Sevier and Dave Teeter
Central Region: Amanda Wesley

Jeffco: Jennifer Kline
Mid-Mo: Gay Baer
Northeast: Katie Mendez
Northwest: Kim Hill
South Central: Angie Blue
Southeast: Lori Kayser
Southwest: Nancy Doubrava
STL City: Florence Fields
STL County: Hayley Arnold
DESE: Dr. Rene Yoesel
Past Presidents: Jennifer Grossman

These representatives will be keeping their regions up to date with “bill watches” and will provide important input on bills of interest/concern to school counselors. Please contact any of them regarding legislative concerns.

Interested in “Going for Gysbers”?

Dr. Shari Sevier was invited to co-present at ASCA’s recent Leadership Development Institute on RAMP, SCAs and Your State. Shari highlighted the long-standing, collaborative partnership between DESE School Counseling and MSCA in regard to professional development, specifically the Gysbers/RAMP designation. If you are interested in pursuing Gysbers/RAMP, MSCA provides individual assistance and coaching at your school site. Plus, on the Saturday before the fall conference, there will be a day-long work session and coaching for schools interested in working on their applications for Gysbers/RAMP. Currently, there are no RAMP schools from Missouri! We would love to see Missouri school counselors “Show Them” with completed applications for Gysbers/RAMP! Any school that earns the Gysbers automatically receives RAMP! Please contact Shari Sevier with any questions at drsharisevier@gmail.com.
