ISCA is excited to announce the completion of a super-successful fall professional development series.  On October 25, the fabulous Heidi Truax presented about the ASCA National Model 4th edition: Everything you need to know! with more than 60 ISCA members and non-members in attendance.  This workshop was free for ISCA members.  On November 21, Brett Zyromski presented about Evidence-based School Counseling Programs, which covered a wealth of his expertise from his role and preparing counselor educators.  This was a packed house of more than 80 attendees.  A big thank-you to Universal Technical Institute for being a friend of ISCA and providing the UTI-Lisle location for our upstate professional development offerings.  Last but certainly not least, Allison Edwards from Vanderbilt University presented down at Collinsville High School for another packed crowd of more than 90 attendees.  A huge shout-out to Collinsville High School for partnering with ISCA to provide such a fabulous location.

In November, five ISCA board members had the opportunity to attend the ASCA Midwest Leadership Development Institute.  At this training, the ISCA board members collaborated around future planning for ISCA.  We had wonderful discussions about membership engagement, professional development and strategic planning.  Thank you to ASCA for providing such a venue to collaborate and work on the future of our state organization.  Don’t hesitate to reach out to connect or get involved with ISCA.  At the very least, consider following ISCA on Twitter (@MyISCA) to keep up with all of the important happenings.  We are all about celebrating the great work of all school counselors.

Make sure that you don’t miss out on the ISCA annual conference.  We are extremely excited to announce our professional development series for the year.  In 2020, we are transitioning to a single two-day annual conference, taking place at the Tinley Park Convention Center on April 16 and 17.  April 16 will consist of a workshop-style national trainer and speaker, with April 17 being a day of breakout sessions and collaborative learning.  Moving to Tinley Park equates to ease of parking for our members, and the conference can be seen as a destination conference with great social networking on Thursday evening.
