Confident Me! A Free Body Confidence Curriculum
 
Learn about the Confident Me! Dove Self-Esteem Body Confidence free curriculum and how the Dove Self-Esteem Project can support body confidence in both male and female adolescents. Focus on helping students challenge unrealistic sociocultural ideals of appearance, and hear how practicing school counselors have implemented the program with success in their schools.
 
Learning objectives:
After attending this webinar you should be able to:
  • Explain how to help students reduce appearance comparisons and body talk.
  • Identify how to help students identify the influence of media messages and create a plan to “remix” those messages.
  • Access and utilize the body confidence curriculum in a single lesson or a five-week lesson.
Speakers:
Jan Gay is a pre-K–8 school counselor and a first-year Dove Self-Esteem Project cadre trainer. In her second year as a school counselor she received the state of Alabama’s recognition award for her comprehensive school counseling program.
 
Laura Ross is in her 12th year as a school counselor. She currently is a middle school counselor in Georgia and a Dove Self-Esteem Project cadre trainer. She is the 2017 Georgia School Counselor Association Emerging Leader of the Year and the 2018 Gwinnett County Public Schools Middle School Counselor of the Year.
